Today we left Michigan for Wisconsin,
but before we left we took a boat trip out to see the Pictured Rocks
National Lakeshore.

We awoke to a beautiful day and with
great anticipation we boarded the boat at Munising for the trip out
to see the Pictured Rocks. The beautiful day quickly turned into a
VERY foggy day as the vagaries of the Lake Superior weather
manifested themselves. We did get to see most of the sights, but
turned back early and only cleared the fog as we returned to harbor.
One wag on the boat commented, they are called Pictured Rocks because
you can only see them in pictures!

Anyway, this meant that we got an
earlier start out of Munising for the drive to Tomah, WI. We traveled
across the UP of Michigan, very boring and then down the side of
Green Bay, much more interesting, through Green Bay with a glimpse of
Lambeau Field through Oshkosh and then westward across the state to
Tomah. There was nothing to see until we stumbled upon Ship Rock, a
rock outcrop standing tall and all alone!
