Day 12 Saturday September 14, 2013

Left Yellowstone and drove through the Grand Teton NP and then through Jackson Hole and over the Teton Pass to our destination for the day, Idaho Falls, ID.
After leaving Yellowstone NP you enter immediately into Grand Teton NP. The Grand Teton mountains are very young mountains, only 9 million years old and are formed along a fault with the mountains rising and the valley sinking. Lake Jackson forms an impressive foreground for the range, but we were surprised to see it so low when we first saw it. We later learned that drought out west has been so severe this year that they have been draining the lake to provide irrigation water.

Leaving the park you enter Jackson, clearly a high monied town! Then over the Teton Pass and along the Snake River Valley to Idaho Falls. The predominant crop along the valley is barley that is being grown for the large Budweiser brewery in Idaho Falls!
