Day 7 - Newport to Portland

The day started with a rude awakening at 5am when the smoke alarm in our room went off for no reason. It stopped quickly, but we couldn’t get back to sleep. The fog had rolled in even thicker overnight and it was raining when we went down to breakfast. We did not expect to see much today, but fortunately the weather improved and we were able to see a lot of the spectacular coastline.

Our first photo opportunity was Cape Foulweather, discovered by Capt. Cook during a 100mph gale!
