It was a very short journey to Copenhagen and we docked in the city at 1am this morning! Thought about getting off and clubbing, but....

Anyway, we put on our walking shoes and set off after breakfast to tour the city. First stop was to be the famous Statue of the Little Mermaid, but beforehand this mermaid caught our eye!
Now the real thing!
We walked first to Amalienborg Square, the residence of the Danish Royal Family, and as luck would have it the Queen was in residence so we were treated to a changing of the guard, by the Danish Royal Life Guards.

Then just up the road to Frederick's Church with its magnificent dome.
Then we decided to set out towards the Tivoli Gardens and en route were treated to some great cityscapes.

The Tivoli Gardens were for us a bust as you had to pay to enter and so we passed and then started the long trek back to the QV, we were rewarded with the Rosenberg Palace and a wonderful street reminiscent of Charleston and then an area of brightly painted homes.

It has been interesting throughout the Baltic to see how important cycling is to the city dwellers, we remarked here in Copenhagen that cyclists were granted preferential treatment over pedestrians, they even have their own separate infrastructure and traffic lights!

We then passed by the Anglican Church, St. Albans, and walked the ramparts of the Citadel before returning to the QV.

As we left Copenhagen harbor we passed by one of the defensive forts at the mouth of the harbor before our overnight cruise to Kristiansand.

I can't help feeling that Copenhagen is also worth a further visit. The surrounding countryside also have a few visiting days in them!!
