Checked out of the hotel and 11am and
took a taxi to the dock to board the Queen Victoria. Our actual check
in time was 1pm, but we decided we'd board early and we were on board
by 11:30am!! Our cabin didn't become available until 12:15pm so we
had a coffee in the Lido restaurant and explored the ship.

Over the next couple hours our entire
party boarded and the fun started! Our party comprises Gavin, Helen,
Jo, Pam, Robin, Kate, Alan, Phil, Lynne and us! We have 4 cabins next
to each other for 9 of us and Phil and Lynne are on another deck. We
have had our steward, Benny, open up the partitions between the
cabins so we have a 4 cabin length balcony. First job was to finish
off the welcome champagne, job done and then after the safety drill
we sat on deck as we left Southampton following the Queen Mary 2 and
consumed another 3 bottles of champagne.

Eventually, some off our party flagged
and Gavin, Alan and I found ourselves alone and time to kill so off
to the Commodore Club for a cocktail! Then back to the room and then
everyone congregated in our cabin for a glass of Woodford Reserve and
a toast to Patrick.
They have been unable to seat all of us
together for dinner, but we did have two tables next to each other, 7
on one and 4 on the other; Jill and I sat with Phil and Lynne. After
dinner we were all flagging, perhaps it was the champagne? Off to bed
and prepare for a full day at sea tomorrow.

What an optimist. The only clothes that were ever going to fit after the cruise were those that were VERY loose or bought 2 sizes too large with the cruise in mind. Reality check Needed!!
