Tuesday 9/1 - Anniversary & Rye

Today was our 36th wedding anniversary, so following in Gavin & Helen's footsteps we went back to the church where we were married, St. Mary's in Reigate and had our photo taken; no nice flowers at this church and unfortunately it started to rain as we got ready to take the photo's;

From the church we set off for a trip to Rye in East Sussex, neither Jill not I had been there before, but Beryl had been before, but could not remember the town that well. We drove through some heavy rain on the way to Rye, but soon the day brightened up and we had some nice views over the South Downs. We stopped at Northiam and were treated to an old steam engine;

Once in Rye we decided to have a cream tea instead of lunch at the White Vine;

The inn had some French oak paneling that was over 450 years old and only recently restored during a 2004 renovation;

After Rye went onto Camber where I saw this well guarded green on the Rye golf course;

At Camber the wind was howling and we knew why there was a wind farm built there! There were also lots of wind surfers as well;

From there onto Dungerness with its bleak setting, two lighthouses and a nuclear power station;

We drove back to Reigate and had dinner at the Sportsman in Mogador; all in all an excellent way to celebrate 36 years together.

Here are the rest of the photos;
