Thusday 8/27 - Chelmsford

On Thursday I decided to do some family history stuff and set off for the Essex Records Office in Chelmsford to see if I could find out more about my Dad's mother's family from Parish records that are kept at the records office. I had a good trip through the Dartford tunnel, but got held up on the M25 for about 30 mins on the other side of the Thames before I was able to get off and get to Chelmsford. I found a "Pay & Display" parking lot near the records office and decided that 3 hours should be enough for what I wanted to do. However, it took a little longer than planned and I didn't get back to the car until 15 minutes after my time was up; sitting there under the wipers was the dreaded ticket, 50 pounds ($85) for being 10 minutes over...AGHHHHHH. As if to rub it in the 75 minute trip back to Reigate took over 3 hours, with the last mile getting off the M25 taking 1 hour! Not a good day!
