Overnight we entered Canada; Oh Canada, Glorious and Free…..
Saw a pod of Orca Whales in the Grenville Channel and hopefully got some good photos. Apparently Orca Whales are in the same family as Dolphins! There has NEVER been a recorded Orca fatality on a human; an Orca did attack a surfer once, but released him unharmed; strange behavior when the Orca’s number 1 predator is us!
We stopped at a disused cannery to drop off a care package for the caretaker! As you can see from the photos not sure why it needs a caretaker! The cannery is a Butedale on Princess Royal Island. There was a very nice waterfall in the vicinity.
Played Canasta in the afternoon; it’s years since I last played, but it’s slowly coming back to me. Jill had some excitement when the waitress poured Helen’s Rum & Coke all over her!
Later we got our first decent sighting of a Humpback Whale; I spotted the blow way off in the distance and we did see the tail as it dived, but we did not see it again.
During dinner we passed Bella Bella; it’s tough to tell where you are as it all looks the same, water and trees!
More of the same tomorrow.
