Day 29 Tuesday October 1, 2013

Today we left the Grand Canyon and drove to Tropic, UT where we are booked into a Bed and Breakfast, convenient to Bryce!!!
The route today took us back to US89 and then north through some very unusual landscapes and then onto US89Alt as a detour. In February a landslide tore away a portion of US89 and the road is still under repair. As it turned out US89Alt is a very scenic road and crosses the Colorado River at Lees Ferry where the first bridge across the Colorado that enabled traffic from Arizona to drive directly to Utah was constructed in 1928. We had wonderful views of the Vermillion Cliffs and once we reached Utah drove through amazing scenery until we reached the Bed and Breakfast which is set in 80 acres right up against the Bryce Canyon boundary.

There seems to be a lot to see in this area, even with Bryce closed, so we have decided to spend an extra night here so will leave here on Friday morning.
