We
had a wonderful lie in and then set off for a day of sightseeing. We
drove again to Yavapai Point and the set off along the Rim Trail
which we walked until we reached Maricopa Point and then turned
around and returned to El Tovah for lunch. We had magnificent views
of the canyon and had been able to also see the hikers returning from
the base of the canyon up the Bright Angel Trail.
After
lunch we caught a shuttle bus out to The Abyss and continued along
the Rim Trail and finally ended up at Hermits Rest and then returned
to our car for the short drive back to our room. All told we walked
about 6 miles and were on the go for about 9 hours.
We
just had a snack for supper and then settled in to see whether DC
would come to its senses, regrettably they did not and now we have to
figure out something else to do now that the National Parks will be
closed as of Tuesday morning.
